Help me plz i dont no what to do! how do i no if i shouuld start something? or if he likes me?

okay, so i was at camp and i met this guy. hes amazing!!!!!!! like fo show!the last night and work day we totally were like inseparable so many ppl thought we hooked up. i like him and ppl told me he likes me but now he tells ppl we r just friends.he doesn't go to my school or live like super close to me either. we still text and stuff but how do i no if he feels the same as i do? or how can i like get to no him better to see if he will ever feel the same way?
